Try removing from your resolv.conf:
nameserver 127.0.0.1
and adding some external nameservers. This may be a bug in the FreeBSD version of SpamAssassin.
How is that? My spamc boxes are all FreeBSD, my spamd box is Solaris. But, testing messages locally on my spamc boxes shows no problems. I *only* have 127.0.0.1 in resolv.conf on all of my servers. I have each server running DJB's dnscache on 127.0.0.1 with my DNS servers IP addresses in the root file.
All local apps use 127.0.0.1 for DNS, and dnscache uses my DNS servers to answer queries not in the cache. No problems. URIDNSBL works fine here.
