=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Confidentiality Notice
Damn spammers. (Those who dictate the insertion of these things are no better than spammers IMO. Not that this is your fault, but most likely
some political dimwit on the board of ed in MN.)
The thing is so vague as to be worthless. Am I the intended recipient? Well.. it's in my mailbox, so I must be... And if not, well, it's in multiple public web archives now, and no disclaimer will stop that.
While i agree with this 100%, posting it here is almost always worthless. I'd guess that most (if not all) of the people on this list are not the ones who decided that adding a disclaimer would be a good idea. They've most likely been told to do it by a higer up.
With that said, for organizations that deal with confidential information (i work at a hospital which definitely fits this category), HIPAA is recommending (if not requiring) that all transmissions including email have a disclaimer added to them. Faxing is even worse. They actually want us to call the intended recipient of the fax and ask them "is your fax machine in a secure location?". Also, fax numbers should be verified before all faxes are sent. This goes for email addreses as well. Its utter BS, but it is being forced on us by federal regulations.
