I posted it all on github including working templates. Source, debs,
RPM's, SRPM's etc.

I have working templates for Debian 10 and CentOS 8 on OpenVZ 6 for my
own use. All I did was compile a custom version of glibc v2.28 with
kernel v2.6.32 compatibility ported back in. It wasn't too difficult
and so far it seems to work well although I have not extensively tested it.
If there is sufficient interest I am willing to share and maybe make the
github repo public for contribution and bug reports.
Yes, please - and please share your source code changes as well (the
"compatibility ported back in").
Is your custom glibc packaged (deb and rpm)?
I guess your templates will also work on RHEL5'ish OpenVZ kernels (like
we have in Owl) since CentOS 6 templates work fine on those. I'd test,
and would then be able to use some old machines (that are unlikely to
ever see a major host OS upgrade) for testing of new stuff on (almost)
Debian 10 and CentOS 8.
