I think that 'host' refers to your Mac. 'Another instance' refers to another copy of OpenOffice that may still be running on your Mac after a previous session.

I think I would answer 'No' and then check whether there is an old instance of OpenOffice still running, using whatever tool the Mac has for that purpose. Sometimes such leftovers do happen. Sometimes it's enough to just wait a while for them to go away, but sometimes you need to kill them. Hopefully you won't lose any documents, although it's possible that you could lose the latest changes in whatever document(s) you were most recently editing.

Hi,

I got this message when opening OpenOffice yesterday. For the first time ever.

I don´t know how to proceed. These are my questions...

1) Which another instance of OpenOffice do you mean?

2) Where is the host?

The message is this (translated from Swedish to English by Google translate):

Either another instance of OpenOffice has access to your personal settings or
you have not released them again. Concurrent access may cause your personal
settings to become inconsistent. Before continuing, you should make sure that
user 'my name' closes OpenOffice on the host. 'my name-Macbook-Air.local' Are
you sure you want to continue? Yes No

Please help me because I don t want to lose any documents.

Best regards, Janet
