So what kind of file? Did you create it or did you download it from somewhere? From where? Can I download it as well? What version of Apache OpenOffice are you trying to open it with, or are you trying to open it with something else? If so, what software would that be? Anyway, the thing that sounds very strange to me (who didn't use Apache OpenOffice for years, but I use LibreOffice which should be quite similar in most aspects, I think), is that it asks for your user name. User name of what? To me it seems like your operating system (”win branch” = Windows?) is asking you for that, rather than Apache OpenOffice. If it was only asking for a password, the file could just be password protected. If it is, you really need the password. That's the point of having a file password protected in the first place, and as far as I remember, the password protection in Apache OpenOffice is very good, at least if the password itself is a good one (not 1234, your user name, your car brand or your favourite hockey team).
