Linda - When you were 'playing with the backgrounds', did you try adjusting the page margins to make the image cover the entire page? Or did you use the real 'Background' feature that ignores the page margins for the image but should leave them unchanged for any text you add to the page?
In an earlier message you referred to images being opened in Draw rather than in Writer. It wasn't clear how you were opening the image. For use in Writer, you should not open the image using File > Open, but rather use Insert > Image, or Format > Page Style > Image. In an earlier message you also referred to getting '3 or 4 images in one' in Writer. That sounds like the tiling behaviour when an image is used as a true background: if the image is smaller than the page, Writer will make additional copies of it to fill the page, like tiles on a floor. Maybe you'd already figured those things out but I wasn't sure. - Robert ________________________________ From: Linda Hull <chalcedony6...@gmail.com> Sent: August 19, 2023 02:42 To: David Robley <da...@robley.net.au>; users@openoffice.apache.org <users@openoffice.apache.org> Subject: Re: How to Make a Background Fit? David, There are things which I don't understand about Open Office. Since I started playing with the backgrounds I've lost the regular one inch margins on any new pages I open. How do I get them back? I don't think I can send examples to the forum, but if anyone wants to see?
