Yes you will be able to open them, but with some caveats. MS has kept modifying their office SW so that many features they put in the documents will not be rendered correctly by OO. OO developers have not kept up with the MS sw modifications or "enhancements", as they like to call it. Interestingly enough, such docs you create on OO will be fully compatible with MS office ware.
