if the latest version can't handle it, T try libre office. of that can't handle it you may be stuck with mso.
If the document is not proprietary, create a bug ticket and attached the document so the devs can fix aoo. traveling right now and it is difficult for me to look up the link... if you are willing to do this and can't see how, mail this list and ask for help with that.
