You mean you installed OpenOffice with their DEBS, aren't you? After you uninstalled LibreOffice with:
sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice* sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get autoremove I also did a fresh start and "new file" in CALC, no crash...I use the german version (32 bit) but I doubt that it is dependend on the language.
As for MS fonts, I have installed "ttf-mscorefonts-installer" from Ubuntu Software-Center.

2016-01-03 16:51 GMT+01:00 Matthias Seidel <matthias.sei...@hamburg.de>:Hello Johnny, I can't reproduce your crash. I am on Ubuntu 14.04 (32bit). Did you uninstall LibreOffice before installing OpenOffice?Yes, I did, and then I installed LibreOffice with their DEBS. I tested the same thing in LibreOffice 4.2.6.3 (I installed it a long time ago…), without a crash. However, when working with a particular document, which was converted from an XLS file, containing some MS fonts like Arial Narrow that my current system lacks, I can't edit existing styles. If I right click one and select Edit, nothing happens (in neither Apache OpenOffice nor LibreOffice). If I create a new spreadsheet, I can edit styles. Maybe something wrong with some of my files then… I'll install the latest stable LibreOffice and see what happens. Still, the original problem happens after a fresh start of the operating system and Apache OpenOffice with a ”new file”, so everything doesn't seem to be my file's fault… Kind regards Johnny Rosenbergkind regards, Matthias Am 03.01.2016 um 16:33 schrieb Johnny Rosenberg:Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 installed with the DEB files downloaded from http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html. I installed it a few days ago, so it should be the latest version. Operating system: Ubuntu 14.04 How to make it crash: 1. Start your operating system. 2. Rename ”~/.openoffice/4/user” to ”~/.openoffice/4/user.old” (or don't, in my case it didn't matter at all) 3. Open Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 (4.1.1 will also do, I had the same problem with it) 4. Select Apache OpenOffice Calc (I don't know if Writer has the same problem, I almost never run anything else than Calc) 5. Hit F11 to open the stylist. 6. Right click a paragraph style, select New. 7. Apache OpenOffice crash. 8. Undo step 2 if you like. Am I the only one with this problem? If so, where do I start looking for what's causing this problem? Kind regards Johnny Rosenberg
