Changing "read only" authority

I recently downloaded Windows 10 to my Asus X55A laptop, and I now have a  
issue with my document files. I am unable to edit them the files open only 
in a  Read Only setting. I am the Administrator of the laptop but I 
continuously get  Administrator permission needed to changing document. Is 
there a 
way to remove  the Read Only designation from the files? In am operating the 
Open Office  4.1.1 program.
