Alan:
Thank you so much for the prompt, polite, and helpful
solution to my simple pesky problem.
I had forgotten that OO prints sheet one and then sheet
two /just to the right of sheet one /and sure enough, guess
what, there was a number 1, yes just the single digit 1, in
one of the cells of the sheet just to the right of my so-
called on-sheet spreadsheet.
Problem solved.
Thanks again for your relevant and spot-on help.

Can some kind person suggest how I can correct this apparently
simple but very pesky problem?
Fred I've had similar problems and have frustrations with Calc's printing
as a result. My solution to unwanted blank pages has been to do the
following...
- delete any empty sheets in the workbook
- go to the last data column then select the column to the right to the
last column in the sheet and delete the columns
- go to the last data row then select the row below to the last row in the
sheet and delete the rows
- clear the print range if any is set
- save the spreadsheet
Phantom pages are no long printed.
Don't know what is going on but suspect there is some value or attribute,
visible or not, in the deleted sheets/columns/rows that's causing Calc to
print the extra page(s).
