We have used Openoffice for years and have always been grateful to have such
useful software available for free rather than having to buy the comparable,
but exorbitant, software from Microsoft. That was the good thing about
Openoffice but as they say, that was then, this is now. With the latest update
of Openoffice we seem to have picked up a few things that aren’t so great...in
a word, adware. I deselected the boxes which would have changed our search
engine and homepage to Ask.com and proceeded with the download. That completed
I restarted my laptop and upon opening Amazon.com discovered that I had
rockettab spying on my every move. I have tried to find the program and
uninstall it from my computer but it is not listed when I checked the control
panel, under any of the names I have learned are associated with the nuisance.

I can only imagine the costs involved in providing and maintaining this caliber
of software for the number of years it has been available. I can also
understand the need for sponsors but sponsors typically want a return on their
investments. In years gone by the avenue for those returns were pop-ups but
pop-up blockers have pretty much made those a non-issue for most people.
Adware is a nuisance, Rockettab is worse than a nuisance because they are
sneaky, not stealthy but downright sneaky. I would much rather have responded
to a plea for a donation or learned that Openoffice would only be available for
a fee. At least then I would have had a choice. I am asking for your help in
removing rockettab from my laptop. Neither McAfee or Microsoft Security
Essentials is targeting the program as a threat. I believe it is a threat. It
is invading my privacy. I won’t purchase merchandise from any of the
businesses which utilize that form of ‘advertising’. I would rather pay twice
the price for an item than support a company which participates in the
hijacking of my computer. As beneficial as Openoffice has been to us in the
past if this is the way you need to operate in order to meet expenses then
perhaps you can offer an adware free version for a fee. This is how many
companies operate today. For example, if a person wants to play games on
Pogo.com they can play for free and put up with all the ads or pay the
subscription fee and avoid the annoyances.

I really hope to hear from you with a solution to removing rockettab from my
computer. The reality of the situation is truly depressing but if openoffice
continues to utilize invasive adware then I have no choice but to remove your
software from my computer. I would rather pay for the software packages I need
without saving a few (hundred) bucks and having my every keystroke monitored by
people who do NOT have my best interests at heart. Thank you for your time and
attention to this matter. Hopefully someone there will know what if feels like
to be jacked and will contact me to offer me the solution to this pest which
has invaded my computer and my life.

Sincerely,

Margaret McGowan

P.S. Please respond to muhsket...@cox.net as I really do not use the windows
live email any longer. Thank you again for your time.
