Updating to v. 4.1.0

I have used openoffice for several years and love the product. I was currently 
using v. 4.0.1 and was trying to update to 4.1.0. I tried twice and both times 
it crashed my computer. I want to go back to the version I was using, but 
cannot open it. 
Question: If I uninstall from the control panel and re-download the 4.0.1 will 
I lose my documents I have saved in the odt format?
