In the past it just created a new NB X, NB Y, NB Z folder beneath the NetBeans directory and off you go. Now it keeps the NetBeans app up to date and the older version, apparently, just "goes away". I'm through hoop jumping that doesn't have to happen, but that requires, well, hoop jumping vs the old default behavior. I imagine the new behavior is more intuitive for new users. Such is progress.
