I think this is only a requirement if you load the CheckSPF module.

That is more a PHP vs. MySQL issue ... what I can say is you probably
need PHP 5 with PDO support.

Amavisd support is a can of worms :) ... you don't need to load the
amavisd module or use amavisd support. All it is is a customization
which allows amavisd to pull in configuration info from the policy that
was matched earlier.
