That's a reasonable option. Staying/Lagging 1/2 or 1 release cycle
behind "bleeding edge" Fedora has worked for me in similar situations as
yours for a long time.
unless of course I can convince
him to go with F18! My home machines are still on F14 but, I have a
test server running F18 and it so far looks solid!
The installer leaves much to be desired (Some people call it crap), but
once you've managed to get across this problem it is pretty solid.
