If you're using grub2, it doesn't matter what's in grub.conf as you're booting from /boot/grub2/grub.cfg. Have you checked there as well? (Just trying to avoid overlooking the obvious.) If you do have it and it's not working, you might want to subscribe to that thread, in case anything new comes up.
