Reboot to BIOS (F2 key):
- restore Setup Defaults (some F? key), then SAVE and EXIT to restart

If it did not work,
Reboot to BIOS (F2 key):
- is there anything like Startup menu item ?
  If yes, mine has submenus:
Boot (boot priority order; there is Help probably)
    1. ATAPI cd/dvd
    2. ATA HDD
    3. USB cd
    4. PCI LAN
    ...
Network (boot priority order; there is Help probably)
    1. PCI LAN
    2. ATAPI cd/dvd
    3. USB cd
    4. ATA HDD
    ...
Boot Mode Quick, Diagnostics (used for devices testing at boot time !!!)
Boot device List F12 Option Enabled/Disabled (F12 invokes a pop up Boot
                                                  device List)
- is there anything like Config menu item ?
  ...
  Serial ATA (SATA)
SATA Controller Mode Option: AHCI (or Compatibility ?)
  ...

If it did not work,
Try live-cd again (make cd/dvd drive a bootable device with F10 if needed)
Does the live-cd recognize the previously formatted hard disk ?
  $ su
  # cfdisk
  # fdisk -l
Look for hard disk related log lines:
any errors related to hard disk or cd/dvd drives ?
  # dmesg | less
  # dmesg | grep -i ata
  # dmesg | grep -i scsi
- perform hard disk installation once again:
  - do NOT accept default installation !!!
  - select custom install/layout,
select "/" root mount point (only one partition, that is entire disk),
select above disk/partition to format to ext4 file system,
make sure bootloader to be installed to MBR (usually default),
    run installation

Next you may try:
- run hard disk diagnostic utility, if present in BIOS - does it find it ?
- run memory check-up utility, if present in BIOS
- turn off Overclocking, if present
- set to auto detect mode, if present
- anything lese unusual/dangerous to manipulate
