As the original poster, I will say this - Patrick's nanny routine 
on this list bothers me, but, that's neither here nor there (he 
has a right to be a nanny, and I have a right to be bothered; I 
respond by ignoring him mostly) - James, I appreciate your 
comments regarding the actual problem; I was seeking quick 
confirmation that others were having the issue, or no, before 
moving on to bug reporting and the like...

I stated in followup that I have been subscribed to both lists for 
seven years - can we move on?
