Yes, these are largely 1920x1200s but for the second one which gives me 2 
inches diagonally over my laptop screen.

Thank you! Per Dell, this is not a 3840x2400 but a 3840x2160.

This one is 5120x2880. And this is exactly why I have no trust in ChatGPT. 

Btw, I was able to get the screen with the black band (though to the right, not 
the center).

xrandr --output eDP-1 --mode 2880x1800 --pos 0x0 --output HDMI-1 --mode 
3840x2160 --fb 2880x1800 --transform 0.833333333,81,0,0,0.8333333333,0,0,0,1

However, the issue of the font getting messed up, and the window being ghosted 
does not go away.

It is possible that the laptop's graphics card can not drive such a high 
resolution screen?
