The new locations seems to me to be the files in
/boot/loader/entries

The latest one on this notebook is
cat

Note: the long string at front is cat /etc/machine-id which is
different for most machines. Exception would be machines where
disk was cloned.

Not sure where it gets the values from, or what might modify them
later.

Hi Michael, those entries are being created successfully whether BLSCFG is enabled or not, what is happening is I don't get sub-menus in my grub menus if BLSCFG is enabled.

Hi,
      What am I losing by disabling BLSCFG in /etc/default/grub? I've
disabled this option because when I run grub2-mkconfig, with
GRUB_ENABLE_BLSCFG=true, the GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=false is ignored (I
have stopped using the grub menus created by "GRUBBY" (if that is what
it is called these days) for the same reason)?

regards,
