Adding your own hostname to the loopback address *can* be a problem.

You may not realise networking isn't working, because you're connecting
to yourself internally instead of the interface to the outside world.

Internal things that want the IP of your hostname now get told the
127.0.0.1 IP instead of the IP of your interface to the outside world.
