The command came from here:

https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/unix-linux-dd-create-make-disk-image-commands/

So it's better to use just "sync" and not "noerror" right ?

Ok so it makes no difference, and I will use whatever is most efficient on
my hardware.

But again, I just want to copy the contents of the root logical volume, and
not the partition itself.

The reason I am doing this is because I want to move to the newer thin
LVMs. The partition will remain just the root logical volume will be
deleted and then recreated as a thin logical volume.

Is partclone still the best option in the above scenario ?
