-l does not umount a filesystem if files are open on it. Not sure -l should ever be used, one needs to determine what is using the filesystem and a normal umount needs to be done.
So even though it does not show in df and /proc/mounts the filesystem is still mounted which is why resize2fs says it is mounted. The lvextend output worries me since it seems to indicate it is reducing the size, you probably should do a -l + otherwise it may want to change the size lower, I would examine the lv and make sure it did not get resized lower.
