Stop right there. This unfortunately sounds like a well-known Google-ism.
If you send mail to a mailing list that you are on, it does not put the
message in your Inbox. Our users have complained about this countless
times, but Google is a giant and we are small potatoes, so it's not going
to change.

Check and see if the messages in question are in your All Mail folder (if
you are able to see this through an IMAP connection with Thunderbird).
Otherwise you would need to log in to your Gmail account through the
browser interface to check.

I do manage to get the mailing list mail into my Inbox, but only because I
have filters (at Google) that explicitly label the mailing list messages.
