Howdy all,

I'm going to be participating in a research project in Rwanda that has a need for receiving SMS messages over the course of a month. Volume is likely pretty low, certainly no more than a hundred a day but I'd like the service to be pretty reliable.

What modem / phone would people recommend using if on a budget? I did dig through the archives a bit, but I think perhaps my needs aren't as extreme as some.

From the modems.conf the T630 looks like a cheap option, but can that run for days on end without errors? Are other phones better / worse? Are the cheap USB GSM Modems you see on eBay compatible with Kannel?

My likely configuration is going to be a laptop in a hotel room running Kannel with either a phone or USB modem plugged in to give you an idea of my requirements. :)

And what questions am I not asking that I should be?

Many thanks!

-Nic
