Right. I recommend avoiding current Debian packages. For instance they install a completely insecure cluster <http://arc.liv.ac.uk/SGE/howto/sge-security.html>, and don't ship the means to secure it, or re-install generally (inst_sge etc. are missing). [This probably doesn't help a newbie, but: The development SGE contains Debian support for packages installing into /opt/sge, designed for a shared installation; see recent snapshots. There's also a proposed replacement for the actual Debian packaging ("gridengine.debian"), but it assumes some changes that mean you can't use it directly with the SGE 8.1.2 release, if I recall correctly.] It is straightforward to build the 8.1.2 release on Debian; see <https://arc.liv.ac.uk/trac/SGE/wiki/WikiStart#Building>. I'd recommend installing into /opt/sge and sharing that between all the cluster nodes. Run the inst_sge script in that directory to set up the distribution. See http://arc.liv.ac.uk/SGE/ for pointers to some tutorial information. -- Community Grid Engine: http://arc.liv.ac.uk/SGE/ _______________________________________________ users mailing list [email protected] https://gridengine.org/mailman/listinfo/users
