I've tsted also with LO Calc, and within it the substitution results are 
shown as you said.

But, if you stay on the mouse over the checkbox "Show dialog" a tooltip 
appears, reminding you how to enable the dialog again:

Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice Calc -> View -> Window -> Summary on search

If you untick that checkbox, the dialog is not shown anymore.
