Hello Sylvain,

What version have you tested?
Latest version (not sure if it on demo already) should work as follows:

* in case formula is not typed "formula dialog" will be displayed and
textarea will be highlighted
* in case there was error in formula, formula will not be rendered and
error will be highlited
* in case existent formula is clicked (while math editor is active)
textarea will be updated with TeX representation
* formula can be edited and updated using "update" button
* in case WB will be clicked instead of "update" new formula will be created

I found this both simple and useful
I will be glad to hear your ideas on how this can be improved
