Hi, if anyone is having similar problems, please do report them to us
or/and here on the ML as it will help narrow down the issue..
I am aware of the problems with the 2.6.17.x kernels: still trying to
find a reliable way of building static kernels that will work with x86
(and hopefully amd64 too)

Yep...
Well, 64bit guests on 64bit hosts worked quite well last time I checked.
It's 32bit on 64bit that's broken AFAIK.
