I completely agree with Jozef on the SEO matter.

I mentionned before you do not need a custom implementation when using only the
node path in the url. Just be aware that you only want the node path in the
url, so the file extension might be the cause of a 404 error. If your node name
doesn't have file extension, you musn't use it in the link.
To be sure just copy the node path from the "Asset" app and paste it to your
link. I just tried in the demoauthor and it's working well :

Hi Christoph
I still do not understand why you do not want to use asset.getLink() (or
something similar from damfn) to create the link.
To render the link label, you could use something else (as already
mentioned).
First, these URLs are ugly, so e.g. if you want/need to send someone an URL to
your document, then
http://www.your-company.com/dam/documents/terms-and-conditions.pdf looks much
nicer than
http://www.your-company.com/dam/jcr:05a7bc1e-5529-42d3-8b9a-1ebe7d87409f/terms-and-conditions.pdf

Second, if you want your documents to be indexed by Google, it is better to
refer them with an "SEO-optimized" URL.

Yes, the UUID-based URLs have their advantages, but also their drawbacks. It
would be nice, if Magnolia (in some future version) offered a possibility to
choose which type of URL I want to generate.

Best,

Jozef
