NVM I discovered there is a file of the same name ending in a tilde (~) which is a backup of the corrupted file. I was able to open it in 7.0 and save in the last legacy format. Unsure what happened initially, but I will be keeping a copy of the old stack intact for a while before migrating to 7.0
