Thanks, but this did not work.
Only LC files have this problem, and that includes newly made ones. if I make,
say, a new Excel file, it's desktop icon appears just fine.
I can manually set the icon of all my LC files in the "get info" palette, but
this is a pain, and what means this anyway?

Well, here's a thought:
right-click on your LC 6.0 and select 'Show Package Contents' and look
for these:
/Contents/Resources/LiveCode.icns
and
/Contents/Resources/LiveCodeDoc.icns
and if the second one is missing that is why your LC files are losing
their icons.
