create a group with a field and a graphic. Make sure the field is at the very top level with the graphic in back. Set the blendlevel and color of the graphic to be 0 or whatever level looks good (I'd use 50%) and make it the same rect of the card. The field can be whatever size you need to show the message. Bring the group to the top level. Show and hide the group.
