I'd suggest pushing to use MySQL, even though some of these work arounds are very clever and interesting. We had 3 people accessing a SQLite database and started running into problems with locks on files. We moved to MySQL and everything worked like a charm right away. Seems best to start with the tool that will work and scale with you.
