I think the quick answer here is no - it is not covered in our current
draft material. But I agree we can and should provide guidance here.
However I think this area of knowledge is still quite immature when
compared to some of the other GUI patterns we're putting into the HIG.
I think it should be explored, with the caveat that it can change
quickly and that (hopefully) the Gnome usability team will keep on top
of industry standards and best practices via HIG updates.

Good catch. It actually has to be covered.
Is it, guys?

Hello,
I just read about handling of touchscreen and gestures at MSDN [1]
and was
wondering if Gnome HIG discuss that topic as well. MS discuss some
important
issues like control size, distance of controls and feedback etc. But
IMHO it
is a more technological approach, at least with the recommended use and
support of 40 gestures [2]. A user-centered design should start with
human
capabilities, which might be very limited for kinaesthetic, and
implementation
have to be completely different from the current, perhaps. Are there
any plans
for Gnome?
Kind regards,
Heiko.
