I'll be waiting eagerly for the progress on that. > Is bugzilla.novell.com or bugzilla.gnome.org the place for network > manager bugs? However as it seems also Banshee-1 has problems (the only way to disable notification balloons is to disable the minimizing to the system tray plugin entirely) I have been considering deleting the whole libnotify library from the file system. I can't quick think of any really useful popups that I would have seen that would come from any applications that I use. The only exception being perhaps my own hack to monitor hdd SMART status, and make a popup when the disk reports that there will be imminent disk failure soon. (Yes, I made such feature and it's really baffling that no distribution ships with such by default.) Now THAT would be important enough to notify the user about. > I think that the Apple way is more subtle: When it can't find a > "trusted" network, it displays a notification, asking you if its okay > to connect, with a little checkbox to add the network to the list of > trusted networks, so that next time it sees the network, it will just > connect. That sounds clearly better already. Requiring user attention only to solve exception situation. _______________________________________________ Usability mailing list Usability@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/usability
