I see what you mean with the options. I switched over to ubuntu proper because I found the KDE options were a bit too overwhelming and I tinkered far too much just because it was so easy to, rather than settle for things as they are.
Unfortunately, I am back to mainly using KDE again because unity is a bit too opposite and some things I want or need to do (such as configure touchpad) I can't because there are no options to do so.
