The fact that other distros do it doesn't mean that we should blindly follow and if it's consistency across platforms that we are aiming, I am sure there are more important features that would benefit from it. :) But because we are a bit speculating here on how much this feature is relevant, if data will show otherwise we should consider to make it more accessible.
