Alfredo, I whipped together this, probably still needs a clean up, but should 
give you something to play with:

animation is controlled by the following two constants
spinner.rot.steps = 20; # steps for 1 full rotation
spinner.rot.delay = 10; # timing should be approx 1/50*delay secs
