hi, thanks for the response. it appears that i am already using radeon (lsmod gives me some references to radeon), but i don't find compiz to be working all that well. i don't know if there are some tweaks i should use or some kind of tuning i can do. in the past it's worked much better. maybe i will have to wait until 10.10 is officially released as it seems that performance and functionality changes everytime i update (every few days)...
let me know if you have any ideas. thanks again dan > Date: Wed, 22 Sep 2010 03:13:17 +0000 > From: 609...@bugs.launchpad.net > To: dankinzel...@hotmail.com > Subject: [Bug 609938] Re: fglrx fails build on 2.6.35-10-generic > > Initially my system was unusable, but I have removed fglrx for now and > enabled radeon by modifying my xorg.conf (previously created by the > amdccle tool) > > Driver "radeon" in my xorg.conf where it used to say fglrx.. performance > seems surprisingly good with compiz, etc. > > Its a good workaround for now that enables gnome whilst we wait for > fglrx to catch up again > > -- > fglrx fails build on 2.6.35-10-generic > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609938 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber > of a duplicate bug (642674). > > Status in “fglrx-installer” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed > > Bug description: > After upgrading to Ubuntu Maverick 10.10, fglrx fails to build against the > latest kernel. > > The version of fglrx I have installed is 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4. > > ProblemType: Bug > DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 > Package: fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 > ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-10.15-generic 2.6.35-rc5 > Uname: Linux 2.6.35-10-generic i686 > Architecture: i386 > CheckboxSubmission: fd01eb15b59ed67c9dd8540fc136fdae > CheckboxSystem: fc73f07fcd9845bb95fa3ca6b8be7ef2 > DRM.card0.HDMI_Type_A.1: > status: disconnected > enabled: disabled > dpms: On > modes: > edid-base64: > DRM.card0.VGA.1: > status: disconnected > enabled: disabled > dpms: On > modes: > edid-base64: > Date: Mon Jul 26 00:08:44 2010 > DkmsStatus: > fglrx, 8.723.1: added > ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-10-generic > root=UUID=eb8d1d11-9ffa-457c-949b-2c5dec76ff74 ro quiet splash > ProcEnviron: > LANG=en_US.UTF-8 > SHELL=/bin/bash > SourcePackage: fglrx-installer > dmi.bios.date: 04/29/2002 > dmi.bios.vendor: Intel Corp. > dmi.bios.version: HV84510A.86A.0040.P11.0204291648 > dmi.board.name: D845WN > dmi.board.vendor: Intel Corporation > dmi.board.version: AAA64179-207 > dmi.chassis.type: 2 > dmi.modalias: > dmi:bvnIntelCorp.:bvrHV84510A.86A.0040.P11.0204291648:bd04/29/2002:svn:pn:pvr:rvnIntelCorporation:rnD845WN:rvrAAA64179-207:cvn:ct2:cvr: > system: > distro: Ubuntu > codename: maverick > architecture: i686 > kernel: 2.6.35-10-generic > > > > To unsubscribe from this bug, go to: > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/609938/+subscribe -- fglrx fails build on 2.6.35-10-generic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609938 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
