I see a similar problem on a HP Pavilion dv2 after upgrading from 9.10. The video card as reported by lspci is:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series The problem also appears using the live CD. I followed the instructions for removing fglrx and reinstalling the ati driver, but it didn't help. Using the radeonhd driver the flicker goes away, but rendering is very slow.
