Since it sounds like you switch between various graphics drivers, it sounds like there is a potential here that you had some bits installed from one of the earlier video drivers which is now interfering. Can you please try booting a LiveCD of Lucid beta1 and see if you can reproduce the issue in that "clean" environment?
One possible cause would be if fglrx bits were installed, and this is documented at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/FglrxInteferesWithRadeonDriver ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- video problem flicker unreadable hp compaq nx9420 ati radeon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/537640 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
