SEVERE REGRESSION!!!! This has regressed to coming up in the split- screen mode - i.e. at 1024x768 the x-origin of the screen is in the middle.
I had just done an apt-get update/dist-upgrade in which the latest change was a new 'plymouth' with its associated library file.
