I reinstalled the current binary driver, and now the system hangs before showing a cursor at all - I just get a blank screen.
However, in recovery mode, I can always start up fine, executing this script after logging in as root: #!/bin/sh echo start some services like the ssh daemon and apache service ssh start service apache2 start echo start X service gdm start I always start the ssh daemon - in case the screen doesn't work, I can then ssh in over my LAN. It would be very nice if Ubuntu always gave the option of installing the ssh daemon in an installation - the FreeBSD installer has a checkbox for doing that - it's very useful when things go wrong! -- [K8M800] Screen origin shifted to center, screen wraps, ttyN screens don't work, on Averatec 3280 running Lucid with openchrome driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
