We shall not confuse the two solutions that have been offered so far. First, there was the no-backfill patch that made its way into the PPA linked in #285, that is https://launchpad.net/~launchpad- weyland/+archive/xserver-nobackfill/
Second, there is the backclear patch provided by Felix Kuehlig in #228. I have been using this patch for days now - and I am not experiencing any problems. I'd be happy to see a PPA for this patch.
