I had the following gnome extensions installed: GSConnect gnome-shell-extension-multi-monitors gnome-shell-extension-system-monitor gnome-shell-extension-caffeine gnome-shell-extension-disconnect-wifi gnome-shell-extension-shortcuts gnome-shell-extension-top-icons-plus gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock gnome-shell-extension-weather
Removed all but gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock and login process hasn't frozen yet.
