I've also stumbled upon another possible cure due to the fact that I REALLY wanted to use KXStudio again (is the only distro that JACK will run on my laptop!!!) and the only version that has a low-latency kernel is the current one.
The kernel that's used in this is actually slightly older, namely 3.2.0-23. Again, I'm using the low-latency kernel, so I don't know if this makes any difference. However, the fact is I've been using KXStudio 12.04 (KDE GUI) all night and have not had one single hard freeze. I tried newer kernels and didn't get any love from them. Again, I'm using a Dell Latitude D620 with an Intel Core 2 processor, integrated graphics (3D capable, but kinda lower rung... can't even play Fallout 3 :( ), Sigmatel 9200 soundcard, 3 GB RAM. Nothing fancy. I'll give it a week then get back to you all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
