My Ubuntu 12.04 also freezes (completely, the cursor doesn't move). It only happens when running the system on battery. Always within several minutes from booting/switching of the AC adapter. On AC, it works just fine for days, without any freezes. My config: Sony F-series laptop, i5 CPU, Nvidia graphics + Nouveau drivers. Xfce 4.10 desktop.
