@Timo: I understand that the bug is difficult to describe and that the plethora of different descriptions make it difficult to debug / pinpoint, hence address. It does not mean canonical or the community should not keep track of it.
This is not venting frustration - although it also is. This is a genuine bug report, which made me move to Fedora (for the time being), since Ubuntu is plain and simply unusable at the moment. If this kind of stability is your first encounter with Ubuntu / Linux, you'll never return. I checked out bug reports and sorted them on "heat". The first bug is "Microsoft has a majority stake on OS installs". Hardly a "bug" which you can repro as well, is it? Yet that keeps open. I suppose as an inside joke, but still, this bug will NOT help reach that goal... Reopen and have it addressed.
